Encyrtidae
Encyrtidae (Tiny parasitic wasps)
Taxonomy
Encyrtidae is a large and diverse family of Chalcidoid wasps. Many Encyrtidae are useful in biocontrol of insect pests. We did not identify Bee Atlas Encyrtidae to genus or species.
Description
Encyrtidae are tiny parasitic wasps. Hosts for different Encyrtidae species can include almost any other kind of adult or larval insects, including other parasitic wasps.
Nest Structure
We only had a few nests in Bee Atlas blocks that Encyrtidae emerged from. One was a Eumenid wasp nest, and the other two were either wasp or bee nests which did not produce any hosts.
